Program Highlights and Benefits

The ACW philosophy has evolved over many years of working with young children and working together as a team.  The following concepts are important components in early childhood education, and are the foundation of our program.

A CHILD'S WAY wants to provide:

We support this philosophy by:

These concepts are important because:

We provide a safe, warm, loving, nurturing and challenging first school experience for young children.

The Children

The children at A CHILD'S WAY preschool range in age from 3 years old to 5 1/2 years old.  The younger children attend two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The older children, and those returning for their second year, attend three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Class Size

The maximum class size is 22, but usually ranges from 12 to 18 children.  The ratio of teachers and children is about 1 to 7.

Parent Participation

The parents are asked to work in the classroom six times each school year.  A schedule is worked out and given to each parent at the beginning of the year, so they may plan accordingly.  Either parent or a substitute caregiver may work in the classroom on these days.  If both parents work full time and cannot fulfill the classroom assignment, we ask them to assume other responsibilities to help the program.
